Even worse is when they crop the picture to make it 16:9.

Like the original DVD release of Kung Fu. Or the proposed coming "widescreen" release of Lost in Space on Blu-ray. And people still say, "I want it to fill my new tv screen!"

Don't buy The Bat (Film Chest Restored Version). They took the original 1.37 aspect ratio film and converted it to 16:9 by removing part of each frame.

Another bad thing: removing laugh-tracks from old comedies, thus creating awkward pauses after each joke. Hence, I did not buy the DVD release of "My Mother the Car".

Some months ago I watched a documentary where they not only used fake widescreen, but added fake shakycam to the 1960s-era footage.

Laugh-tracks are an original part of many old shows, and to remove them is as insane as cropping a 4:3 show to 16:9.
